Pre-Study Program
The pre-study program is critical to the success of any Certified Financial Planning student. The pre-study program is designed to make sure students obtain a foundation of knowledge that adequately prepares them for THE DALTON REVIEW® and ultimately, the CFP® Certification Examination. The Pre-Study Program consists of the following:
- Pre-Study Booklets
Our pre-study booklets consist of five booklets, plus a Study Guide. The booklets consist of study notes, practice questions, review questions, released exam questions and exam tips. The Study Guide includes time value of money, comprehensive cases and a practice exam. Students should expect to work through the pre-study booklets prior to attending the review. Here is a sample lesson from the pre-study booklet. This will give students an idea of what to expect when going through the pre-study materials.
- Pre-Study Archived Lectures
Students will have access to our pre-study archived lectures. These lectures cover important topics and concepts students are likely to see on the exam. Students should attend these lectures prior to the review so they are as prepared as possible heading into the review. Here is a list of the Pre-Study Lectures that are available.
- Instructor Office Hours
Our instructors have assigned office hours so that they are available to answer any student questions or further explain course material. These office hours are conducted in our virtual classroom and are a great way to receive individual one on one coaching and instruction.
Review Classes
The critical component to any student’s success depends upon quality instruction. Why take your chances on another review when that instructor never wrote any questions for the exam or even sat for the exam?
THE DALTON REVIEW® instructors are the best in the country, many have written questions for the exam and served on the Board of Examiners.
- 36 Hours of Classroom Instruction
The eReview classes are live with instructors and students communicating in real-time, using a headset or microphone or simply listen through your computer speakers. Students are welcome to attend all of the eReview sessions for a particular review cycle. For the traditional classroom review, those students will also have access to the live eReview sessions.
Both eReview and traditional classroom review students will have access to the recorded eReview lectures for playback at anytime. All classes are recorded and available for playback if you are unable to attend the live class.
During the review, instructors will cover the most important topics that will be tested on the exam. Instructors will lecture on topics, followed by example questions released by the CFP® Board and questions similar to what you may see on the exam.
- Exam Focused Handout Book
Students will receive our Handout Book, which guides them through the review and is the perfect summary for what may be on the exam. The Handout Book has been designed with the help of former members of the CFP® Board of Examiners. Topics are covered, followed by examples of questions that may be on the exam.
Post-Study Program
The Post-Study program consists of:
- Post-Review Q&A Lectures
The post-review Q&A lectures are an opportunity to ask any remaining questions from the review and to receive last minute instruction on any topic of your choice. The post-review Q&A sessions are held in our virtual classroom and are recorded for playback at a later time.
- Online Examiner Testbank
Once you complete the Pre Study Program and Review, you will then be ready for the Online Examiner Testbank. The Online Examiner Testbank contains approximately 1,500 multiple-choice questions similar to those on the CFP® Certification Examination. The tests are timed and include logic and concepts with each question – supplying instant feedback. Students can also create custom quizzes by sub-topics to test themselves on their weakest topics. Students have access to the test bank throughout the entire review process.
- Study Guide
Students should complete the Study Guide which contains released cases from prior CFP exams and practice questions. It’s important to work cases after attending the review, to practice what you have learned.
