Time to Think About the July 2009 CFP Exam

Greetings,

I just wanted to take a few minutes to talk to you about preparing for the July 2009 CFP Exam.

As you know by now, the CFP education consists of a lot of material.  Overall, it’s not terribly difficult, there’s just lots of it.  In order to properly prepare and give yourself the best possible opportunity to pass the July exam, I would like you to begin preparing for the exam starting this month.  I know that you still have a portion of your education program to finish, but it’s important to get started early, even if it means studying just a few hours a week.  The CFP exam is a professional level exam and it requires a significant amount of work to be truly “exam ready”.  You need to study about 200 hours outside of your education program to be ready for the CFP exam, so we need to start planning now.

As part of your plan for studying and preparing for the exam, you should attend a CFP review class.  A CFP review class is critical in your preparation because it helps narrow down the material to make it more manageable, provide exam tips, testing strategies and biases of the exam.  Dalton Education offers THE DALTON REVIEW for the CFP exam, which is an extremely comprehensive and convenient CFP review class consisting of pre-study materials, cases, exam questions, Online Examiner test bank (with CFP exam questions), instructor office hours and post review Q&A Sessions.  We offer both our eReview, that is live, and delivered over the Internet (just like your education program) and a traditional classroom CFP review in Atlanta and Washington DC.

Please visit our website for more details and a review schedule for the July exam:  http://www.thedaltonreview.com.  The price of the review is $975 and it includes all of your study materials, test bank and review instruction.  Also, once you enroll in the review, you are eligible to attend any or all of the review dates that work for your schedule.  Even if you enroll in the traditional classroom review, you will have access to the live and recorded eReviews as well.  To enroll, simply follow this link http://www.thedaltonreview.com/enroll.html.

Once you enroll in THE DALTON REVIEW, we will send you “Pre-Study” materials that need to be completed before attending the review.  It takes about 100-125 hours to work through the Pre-Study materials.  This is very important because it puts you in a position to be well prepared for the review classes and to complete the “Post-Review” materials.  So it’s very important to get started early to complete the 100-125 hours of Pre-Study between now and the middle of June.  Remember, even if it’s just a few hours a week now, it will help you in the long run to be better prepared for the review and July exam.

Not Taking the July Exam?

Even if you are considering taking the November exam instead, I would encourage you to still enroll in the November review now.  You can attend both the July and November review classes at no extra charge.  Even if you only watch the recorded version of the July review and attend the live version of the November reviews.  We want you to pass and we think taking the review twice will only help reinforce the material and give you the best chance at passing.  We also offer a guarantee that you will pass, otherwise you can attend the review again for free.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Joseph M. Gillice, CPA, CFP®

00000001"A Study Plan"
at Tuesday, 31 March 2009 05:00by Karen Morgan
Like a lot of people, I am at work during the day and still trying to prepare for the July Exam. Would anyone be available to help me with my study plan? Can I review the recorded classes as often as I like?

Karen,

Once you enroll, I encourage you to call me and spend a few minutes talking about your study plan. I make sure that you have realistic expectations regarding the time commitment and you have periodic goals to make sure you're on the right path. Our success depends on our student's success and establishing a study plan, milestones along the way is critical. Good question! Oh, and you can certainly playback the recorded lectures as often as you like. Good luck with your studies!

Emily,

Yes, there are still seats available for the DC review. I would encourage you to enroll soon, because there is about 100-125 hours of pre-study work that needs to be completed before attending the review.
